Privacy Policy

Last updated October 16, 2026

OpenWorld has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. We do not sell or share your data, because we do not collect it.

Your location

OpenWorld asks for your device’s location only when you tap the location button or start navigating, and only if you allow it. It is used on your device to show where you are and guide you. It is not sent to us or stored on our servers.

When the map first opens it may estimate a rough area from your internet connection (through GeoJS), so it can open near you. That estimate is not stored.

What stays on your device

Saved places, recent searches, your last map spot, your chosen car, theme and route options, and any offline map areas are kept in your browser’s own storage. Only you can see them. Clear them any time in Settings, or by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Services the map talks to

To draw the map and answer searches, your browser asks public services for map tiles, places, routes, weather and live data, as any website does when it loads images. Those requests include what is needed to answer them (for example, the area on screen or the text you searched) and your IP address, which every website request carries. Each service handles that under its own privacy policy. The full list is in the map’s menu under Data we use.

A few requests pass through OpenWorld’s own server (for example stop signs along a route and some live feeds). The server does not keep logs of them beyond what our host, Vercel, records for security and operation.

Reports you send

If you report a problem with a place, your words and that place’s position are posted to OpenStreetMap as a public note that anyone can read. Do not include personal details.

Children

OpenWorld is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. Anything new that touches your data will be explained here first.
